A SONG FOR YOUR DATE WITH THE MASTER OF THE LABYRINTH
"Minotaur" is the second piece of a two-part single following their 2018 "Behelit". Both a bit of a departure from Sigmun's more spacey sound on their last LP, "Crimson Eyes" (at least for "Behelit"), the songs are an ode to Kentaro Miura's dark fantasy epic "Berserk".
lyrics
I seek for a way out of this labyrinth and endless halls
This humid air that has been choking me violently
And I heard a whisper that speaks in unknown tongues I’ve never sung
These cold hard walls I’ve been circling around
Ooh you could hear his breathing haunts
Ooh and his feet as he stomp the ground
Ooh and there's nothing but the sounds
Is that you madness? Knocking on my door, the ceiling and the floor?
Come back another time, another time, another mountain to climb
Another lie, another chance to survive, another roll of dice
Another fight another strife
Ooh you could hear his breathing haunts
Ooh and his feet as he stomp the ground
Ooh and there's nothing but the sounds
Ooh oh there's no one else around
Ooh yet you rise for another round
Ooh you could hear the howling hounds
Ooh what is lost shall never be found

With all respect due to Nick DiSalvo, who is incredibly talented, the proggy vocals are not what I love the most with Elder. What I love the most, I'll admit, is the incredible synthy, krauty goodness, from the track Sonntag on the previous album to the wonderful delving LP Hirschbrunnen. I think these instrumental Sessions were a major step in that direction, and I love them dearly for it. Coraxio
